LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Randolph women's tennis team picked up its first win of the season as it defeated Mary Baldwin 5-4 on Sunday afternoon. The WildCats' record is now 1-5 while the Fighting Squirrels drop to 0-3.

Randolph picked up two wins in the doubles portion of the match. Heather Whetzel (Grottoes, Va./Harrisonburg) and Cassidy Bell (Monroe, Va./Amherst County) defeated the pair of Summer Wendt and Liz Wine 8-3 at second doubles. Jenna Fink (Madison Heights, Va./Amherst) and Amanda Jagdeo (South Ozone Park, NY/Flushing HS) won 8-6 at third doubles against Helen Gutierrez and Samantha Childs.

Zu Elkhansa (Charleston, W.V./George Washington) won her first collegiate match as she knocked off Alexis Seymore 6-3, 6-0 at first singles. Whetzel won 7-5, 6-1 at second singles. Bailey Livingston (Evington, Va.) was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at third singles.

Randolph travels to Sweet Briar on Thursday. The WildCats and Vixens start at 4:00 p.m.
