Women’s Swimming Competes against Sweet Briar

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va.- The Randolph women's swimming team went up against Sweet Briar in a dual meet on Friday evening held at Hampden-Sydney's pool. The Vixens would top the WildCats 143-44.

While the WildCats did not have a swimmer get first place, there were several second-place results individually. Bryanna Smith (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) was the runner up in both the 200 meter IM (2:49.11) and the 100 meter fly (1:16.94). Eva Pontius (Lynchburg, Va.) was second in the 100 meter backstroke with a time of 1:24.30. Ava Skinner (Lynchburg, Va./Brookville) came in second in the 100 backstroke in 1:32.03

In the relays, the squad of Molly McNair (New South Wales, Australia/Figtree), Skinner, Smith, and Kyra Miller (Richmond, Va.) swam a time of 5:41.21 in the 400 meter relay. In the 200 meter free relay, Hannah Cloven (Fredericksburg, Va.), Madeline Freshour (South Boston, Va./Halifax), Pontius, and Jasmine Beck (Manassas, Va.) finished in a time of 2:36.28.

Next up for the WildCats is a tri-meet at Bridgewater next Saturday. Randolph will compete against the host Eagles and Hollins. Start time is at 1:00 p.m.
