Women’s Swimming Splits Tri-Meet

BRIDGEWATER, Va.- The Randolph women's swimming team competed in a tri-meet with Hollins and Bridgewater on Saturday afternoon. The WildCats split as they defeated Hollins 94-58 and lost to the host Eagles 137-35.

Bryanna Smith (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) swam unopposed in the 200 meter fly. She posted a time of 3:06.89. Smith came in fifth in the 200 meter free in a time of 2:29.36.

Eva Pontius (Lynchburg, Va.) placed fourth in the 200 meter back as she finished in a time of 31.09. She also was third in the 800 meter free with a time of 11:52.05.

A trio of WildCats had fifth-place results. Kyra Miller (Richmond, Va.) had a time of 34.57 in the 50 meter free, Ava Skinner (Lynchburg, Va./Brookville) swam 1:26.90 in the 100 meter IM, and Jasmine Beck had a time of 4:23.12 in the 200 breast.

Miller was seventh in the 100 free as she touched the wall in a final time of 1:26.90. Hannah Cloven (Fredericksburg, Va.) came in 10th with a time of 1:34.84.

The 200 meter relay team of Pontius, Beck, Cloven, and Madeline Freshour (South Boston, Va./Halifax) swam a time of 2:34.25. The squad of Freshour, Skinner, Smith, and Miller had a time of 5:50.71 in the 400 meter medley relay.

The WildCats return to the pool on December 3 when they compete in the Yellow Jacket Invitational at Randolph-Macon.
