Six WildCats Named to VaSID All-Academic Team

ASHLAND, Va.- The Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) on Monday announced the 2020 Academic All-State Team. Randolph had six student-athletes selected. A total of 37 schools and 222 athletes were named.

To be considered, a student-athlete must have a cumulative 3.25 GPA or better, be of sophomore status or higher, and must have been a valuable contributor to the team. The six WildCats selected were:

Corrinne Anderson (Amelia, Va./Blessed Sacrament Hugenot), Women's Basketball

Amber Garrett (Stephens City, Va./Sherando), Women's Basketball

Elizabeth Ellen (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover), Women's Basketball

Alexander Kulvivat (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park), Men's Tennis

Kyle May (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook), Men's Soccer

Nicole Taulton (Fairplay, Md./Williamsport), Women's Soccer

 

Anderson is a Psychology major. She played in 23 games last season and started three averaging 2.4 points a game.

Garrett is majoring in Pre-Med. She started 23 of 24 games leading the 'Cats in three-point percentage at 29.3%.

Ellen is a Psychology major. She played in 23 games with two starts. In her first career start, she scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

Kulvivat is an Engineering Physics major. He played at second singles and first and second doubles in the shortened 2020 spring season.

This is May's second selection on the All-Academic Team. An economics major, he played in 13 games and started six of the last seven contests in 2019 tallying two assists. He is currently involved in a summer research project titled "Resources, Riches, and Rural America: A Visual Study of School Buildings and Their Surroundings in Communities Dominated by Extractive Industries"

Taulton graduated in May with a degree in Sports and Exercise Studies. She received the Randolph Athletic Department's Scholar Athlete Award in April for having the highest GPA of all graduating seniors. She was a sold presence in the backfield last year for Randolph and was a part of six shutouts.
