LEXINGTON, Va.- The Randolph women's tennis team faced defending Old Dominion Athletic Conference champion Washington and Lee in the WildCats' conference opener on Wednesday. The Generals defeated the 'Cats 7-2.
Keyu Jin (Kunming, China/No.8 School) and Ashley Schmitz (Keswick, Va./Homeschool) went up against the duo of Taylor Garcia and Lili Horsley at first doubles. Garcia and Horsley won 8-4. Sarah Mueller (Falls Church, Va./George Mason) and Ranita Opoku-Sarfo (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) dropped an 8-2 decision to the pair of Claire Lacksen and Madison Hutchins. Lauren Appel (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) and Bailey Livingston (Evington, Va.) won their third doubles match by default.
Jin lost to the #44 ranked Garcia 6-3, 6-3 at first singles. Schmitz's match at second singles was 6-2, 6-2 in Horlsey's favor. Livingston won her sixth singles match by default.
Randolph hosts Johnson University of Tennessee this Friday. Start of the match is 2:00 p.m.
