LYNCHBURG, Va.- It was a cold, brisk, but sunny afternoon at WildCat Stadium as the women's lacrosse team hosted Greensboro on Saturday. The Pride got out to a big lead in the first half and didn't look back as they won 17-5.
Greensboro evens its record at 1-1. Randolph falls to 1-2.
The Pride led 7-0 just over the midway point of the first half. The WildCats got on the board with 7:12 remaining as Sarah Perry (Rocky Mount, Va./Franklin County) found Emily Laframboise (Cornwall, Vt./Middlebury) for the score to make it 7-1. The Pride tacked on two more scores until Perry scored unassisted as GC led 9-2 at the break.
Randolph closed to 9-3 early in the second half as Laframboise assisted Allie Fields (Abingdon, Md./Rockbridge County) on the goal. That would be as close as the 'Cats could get as Greensboro outscored Randolph 8-2 the rest of the way.
Laframboise finished with a pair of goals and assists for a six-point day. Perry ended up with two goals and an assist. She picked up six groundballs, won five draw controls, and caused one turnover.
Between the pipes, Chrissy Shackleford (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) stopped 22 shots. She also caused three turnovers.
Randolph's originally scheduled home game this Wednesday March 4 with Hollins has been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date. The WildCats' next game is now Tuesday March 10 as they host Southern Virginia. Game time will be at 5:00 p.m.
