BUENA VISTA, Va.- The Randolph women's tennis team played its second straight road match of the season as it traveled to Southern Virginia on Friday afternoon. The Knights defeated the WildCats 7-2.
The 'Cats picked up one win in doubles play. Keyu Jin (Kunming, China./No. 8 School) and Ashley Schmitz (Keswick, Va./Homeschool) defeated the pair of Morgan Blount and Alyssa Sewell 8-4.
The singles portion saw Jin win easily at #1 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Blount. Schmitz went three sets with Sewell. She took the first set 7-5 and dropped the second 6-2. The match went to super tiebreak with Sewell edging out Schmitz 10-8.
Sarah Mueller (Falls Church, Va./George Mason) lost 6-1, 6-4 to Natalie Tetteron at #4 singles. Ranita Opoku-Sarfo (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) lost a close decision against Skousen 6-3, 6-4 at #5 singles.
Randolph hosts its first match of the spring season tomorrow afternoon against Averett. Match time is at 1:00 p.m.
