MISENHEIMER, N.C.- The Randolph women's tennis team returned to the court for the first time since last fall as they played Pfeiffer on Saturday. The WildCats were down 2-1 in doubles play but recovered to take five singles matches and win 6-3.
The lone doubles win went to the pair of Keyu Jin (Kunming, China./No.8 School) and Ashley Schmitz (Keswick, Va./Homeschool). They cruised to an 8-1 victory over Anna Branson and Darby Sherrill.
In the singles portion, Jin took down Branson 6-2, 6-1 at first singles. Schmitz handled Sherill 6-2, 6-0 at second singles. Lauren Appel (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) edged out Sydney Honeycutt 6-1, 6-4 at third singles. Sarah Mueller (Falls Church, Va./George Mason) defeated Sydney Gray 6-2, 6-2 at fourth. Ranita Opoku-Sarfo (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) gutted out a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Haylee Dixon at fifth single.
The WildCats go to Southern Virginia on Friday. Start time for the match will be at 3:00 p.m.
