VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.- The Randolph women's swimming team lost 101-79 to Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday. Despite the score, the WildCats still had some impressive results.
Both relay teams came out on top. The 200 medley squad of Grace Driver (Andrews, Texas/Andrews), Libby Exline (Sykesville, Md./La Plata) Brice Creel (Lake Placid, Fla./Lake Placid), and Sarah Perry (Rocky Mount, Va./Franklin County) finished in a time of 2:12.51. The 200 free relay quartet of Perry, Driver, Exline, and Creel was first in 2:00.22. Both of those times bested last year's marks.
Randolph first-year swimmers picked up first place points on the day. Driver swam a time of 13:18.10 in the 1000 free. Creel posted a time of 1:06.51 in the 100 fly. Jessica Williams (Sacramento, Calif./John F. Kennedy) touched the wall first in the 100 free with a time of 1:14.12, which topped last year's best time of 1:15.63. Williams also had a 1:28.41 time in the 100 back to overtake last's season top time of 1:47.35.
Leah Dorman (Lynchburg, Va.) swam the 100 breast in a time of 1:29.71. That was better than her time of 1:37.87 from last year. Her 50 free time was 35.06.
Golden Dennison (Creston, N.C.) swam the 500 free in 8:47.80 and the 200 free in 3:10.81. Exline placed second in the 200 IM in 3:11.19.
The women will next compete on November 3rd in a tri-meet with Greensboro and Ferrum. The meet begins at 1:00 p.m.
