Women's Swimming Falls to Virginia Wesleyan, 105-47, in First Dual Meet

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Randolph College women's swimming team fell to host and Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Virginia Wesleyan University, 105-47, in its first dual meet on Saturday afternoon.

The foursome of Erynn Hunting, Golden Dennison, Katie Thomas and Leah Dorman kicked off the day with a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay, posting a time of 2:49.43, nearly 24 seconds faster than the previous time of 3:14.46 set at the ODAC Relays last weekend.

Randolph earned fifth, sixth and seventh-place finishes in the 200 freestyle with Dennison leading the way in 3:17.04 while Georgia LeGrand-Carney followed in 3:33.43, good enough for sixth, with Tabitha Stone touching the pad in 4:21.17.

Dorman and Hunting went 2-3 in the 50 freestyle as Dorman posted a time of 33.74 with Hunting right behind in 34.43.

Thomas took first-place honors in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:07.11 while the 100 freestyle saw Hunting and LeGrand-Carney finish third and fifth with times of 1:15.63 and 1:34.92, respectively.

Dennison would return to take third-place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:48.80 while Stone earned a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle, touching the pad in 11:47.41. Dorman and LeGrand-Carney rounded out the day with a 3-4 finish in the 100 breaststroke with Dorman clocking in at 1:37.87 while LeGrand-Carney locked down a time of 2:20.41.

The WildCats return to action on Saturday, Oct. 28 when they compete against Greensboro College at 1p.m.
