Box Score SALEM, Va. -- Roanoke earned a 88-67 decision today in Salem to muddy an already murky ODAC playoff picture in men's basketball.
Roanoke led wire-to-wire, taking an early 5-4 lead and then using a 12-0 run to boost a lead it would never relinquish.
The WildCats used runs of 6-0 and 5-0 in the first half, but Roanoke held off multiple charges in the frame to stay ahead at intermission.
In the second half, junior Corey Brown hit consecutive threes for the WildCats to cut the lead to single digits for the first time since early in the first, but Roanoke responded with a run of its own to get back up to double figures.
A personal 5-0 run by first-year Ryan Fields looked to give Randolph more momentum later, but the hosts held off the charge to pull away late in the the win.
Three WildCats finished in double figures, with junior Gordon Rogo continuing to improve on his ODAC-best field goal percentage, going 6-for-9 from the floor for 15 points.
Junior Zach Desgain contributed 14 points to the cause, while Brown added a dozen.
Rogo was the team's top rebounder with six boards.
Randolph is locked in a four-way tie for sixth place in the tightly-contested ODAC standings. The win pulls Roanoke within one game of that group.
Randolph is back in action on Wednesday as it hosts cross-town rival Lynchburg.
