Box Score

FARMVILLE, Va. -- Hampden-Sydney earned a 59-57 victory tonight in ODAC action, holding off a last second Randolph charge.

The Tigers led for most of the first half, but with the WildCats down 23-19, first-year Reid Jacoby hit a three and juniors Jason Eddie and Seth Wimbish hit jumpers to put Randolph up.

A H-SC three with 43 seconds left sent the teams into intermission tied, however.

Juniors Corey Brown and Eddie keyed a 5-0 run to open the second half, but a 6-0 run by the hosts once again put the Tigers ahead.

A three by Brown and two baskets by junior Zach Desgain earned Randolph the lead in a back-and-forth span in the middle of the second half.

Another 6-0 run gave Randolph its biggest lead of the game of seven, but Hampden-Sydney replied with an 11-2 run to take a 53-51 edge with 3:03 to go.

The teams exchanged free throws before Brown hit a layup off of an offensive rebound to make the game 55-55 with 1:22 to go.

After another H-SC basket, Desgain responded with a jumper with 34 seconds to once again level the contest.

The Tigers got a layup with five seconds left, however, earning the win.

Desgain finished with a team high of 13 points, followed by 10 apiece from Brown and Eddie.

Randolph is next in action in the second part of a doubleheader at the RAD on Saturday. Tip time for the matchup with Roanoke is scheduled for 4:30.
