Ehilegbu's 27 Points Not Enough for Men's Basketball at EMU

Box Score

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Eastern Mennonite hit from three on its first three possessions, never trailing in a 76-69 win.

In the first half, the Royals (13-10, 8-6 ODAC) hit on 63.6% of their shots, including shooting 8-of-13 on threes, taking a 42-30 edge into intermission.

After being held scoreless through 20 minutes, sophomore Corey Brown (Williamsburg, Va./Walsingham) hit from deep to open the scoring in the second half, earning three of his 14 secon-half points in the process.

Senior Mike Ehilegbu (Raleigh, N.C./Ravenscroft) had the next eight Randolph (12-10, 6-7 ODAC) points, cutting the lead to a single possession for the only time in the game.

Every Randolph basket down the stretch had a response from EMU, as the Royals held the WildCats off, despite Brown and Ehilegbu shooting well, tallying the team's final 16 points.

Ehilegbu finished with 27, one shy of his career high, which he earned last week. The ODAC's reigning Player of the Week has now scored at least 20 points in three straight.

David Falk, one of four Royals in double figures, led EMU in points (19) an rebounds (7).

The WildCats have a quick turnaround, facing Roanoke on Monday in a rescheduled affair. It will be the team's final road game of the regular season.

The Maroons and WildCats are one game apart in the ODAC standings, with the WildCats ahead in the No. 8 spot, the final spot which earns a home playoff game.
