Guilford (14-4, 8-1 ODAC) opened up a 6-2 edge early, but Randolph (10-8, 4-5 ODAC) scored the next 10 points to take double up the hosts, 12-6.
The two teams grinded out the first half, with both teams under 40% from the floor in the first half, with Guilford missing all 10 three-point attempts, leaving Randolph up 26-23 at intermission.
After Jason Eddie (Charlotte, N.C./Davidson Day School) opened the second half scoring with a three, Guilford scored 11 of the next 13 points to go up six.
In a second half with seven lead changes, the two teams exchanged punches, leaving the teams level with 2:30 left after a pair of free throws by sophomore Corey Brown (Williamsburg, Va./Walsingham).
On Guilford's next possession, Zeb Richardson used good positioning to hit a layup.
Randolph missed on its next two shots and conceded an offensive rebound and a tip-in basket with 30 seconds remaining to double the lead.
With just 11 seconds left, Guilford had the ball leading by four looking to close it out.
Brown stole an inbound pass and cut to the basket, hitting a spinning runner while getting fouled to halve the edge.
After missing the ensuing free throw, Brown got his own board, giving Randolph new life.
Out of a timeout, a game tying layup attempt came up just shy, ending the threat.
This is Randolph's 12th game in which the final minute came down to a single possession. While Randolph is 6-6 in these games, Guilford is 6-0 this season in games decided by three points or fewer.
Senior Mike Ehilegbu (Raleigh, N.C./Ravenscroft) was the game's co-leader in points with 16, putting him at 975 in his career, moving him into third on Randolph's all-time scoring list. He also had nine rebounds.
Brown had 13 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore Seth Wimbish (Fairdale, W.V./Liberty) used three triples to get 10 points.
Randolph was hurt by 21 turnovers, which resulted in 26 Guilford points.
Randolph is back in action on Saturday at Shenandoah.
