Box Score ASHLAND, Va. -- Four Randolph-Macon players hit double figures, helping the team earn a 60-53 win over Randolph.
Randolph (9-6, 3-3 ODAC) used an 8-0 run to take a lead late in the first half, but in an affair with five first half lead changes, Randolph-Macon (11-4, 5-1 ODAC) took an edge of three into intermission.
That Yellow Jacket lead grew to as much as seven early in the second half, but a 6-0 Randolph spurt pulled the visitors back within one.
Sophomore Corey Brown (Williamsburg, Va./Walsingham) scored six straight WildCat points to give Randolph its only lead of the second half at 37-36 with 12:52 remaining.
The WildCats then conceded an 13-2 run, however, which proved to be the turning point of the contest.
Down by 10 with 1:05 remaining, Randolph staged a late comeback attempt, scoring the next seven points and making a stop, having a chance to tie the game with 26 seconds remaining.
When a three went off the mark, however, Randolph was forced to foul to extend the game. When the hosts hit their free throws, the Yellow Jackets, who were ranked in the national preseason poll, held on.
Brown finished with a game-high 17 points. Senior Mike Ehilegbu (Raleigh, N.C./Ravenscroft) continued his strong performance on the glass, pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds to go with his 13 points.
The guard now has double figure rebounding totals in four of his last six games.
This is now the 10th time in 15 games in which the result was in doubt until the final possession, leading to a number of nailbiters for head coach Clay Nunley's squad.
The team will look to bounce back once again on Wednesday against Lynchburg in the RAD Center.
Randolph will be looking to avoid consecutive losses, which it has done successfully the last nine times it has been faced with a loss. Randolph has only lost consecutive regular season contests once in the last two calendar years.
