Box Score HAMPDEN SYDNEY, Va. -- Randolph stormed back from a 12 point second half deficit to regain the lead, but fell in men's basketball action 60-56.
Hampden-Sydney opened the game on 4-0 run and held that edge for most of the first half, save for two go-ahead baskets by first-year Seth Wimbish (Fairdale, W.V./Liberty) and a layup by classmate Dylan Wood (Winston Salem, N.C./East Forsyth).
The team could never regain that lead in the first half, with only another Wimbish basket, this time a three, tying the score before intermission.
After Wimbish's equalizer, the Tigers hit consecutive triples to earn their halftime edge.
Dylan Shiflett (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry) hit an absurd spinning, one-handed shot while getting fouled to cut the lead to two.
After a stop, sophomore Jason Eddie (Charlotte, N.C./Davidson Day School) tied it up with a layup off of an offensive rebound.
After a Corey Brown (Williamsburg, Va./Walsingham) basket put the WildCats up for the first time in 22 minutes, Shiflett doubled the lead to four.
A 6-0 run put Hampden-Sydney back on top.
Randolph tried to catch up by fouling, but Hampden-Sydney converted its shots from the charity stripe to earn the win.
The Tigers, who lead the ODAC in rebounding margin, pulled down 11 offensive rebounds to earn an 11-2 advantage in second chance points.
Randolph returns to action at home Saturday against William Peace.
