LYNCHBURG, Va.- Randolph Director of Athletics Tom Galbraith announced this week that Tim Lengle has been hired as the new Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer for the WildCats. He officially begins his duties on January 1.
Lengle comes to Randolph from Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ where he has been the head athletic trainer since 2002. Lengle directed the sports medicine program for 21 NCAA Division I teams and supervised seven staff members.
Galbraith said he is thrilled to have a leader in the industry with the vast amount of experience that Lengle brings to Randolph.
"Clearly, Tim has established himself as a trusted and respected colleague in the evolving world of sports medicine, and Randolph student-athletes, coaches, and the entire college will now be the benefactors of his work. That is an exciting and integral addition to the overall management of our Athletics department and the care for our students."
In 2002 and 2011, he was the Tournament Head Athletic Trainer for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. He partnered with NCAA leadership to coordinate medical services, recruit physicians and athletic trainers, and manage event budgets.
Lengle is also an adjunct professor in the Master's of Arts in Athletic Leadership since 2018 and Bachelor of Exercise Science program since 2025.
Lengle earned his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from West Chester University in 1995. He received his Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology in 1999 from Rider.
"I could tell almost immediately that Randolph College is a special place," said Lengle. "Seeing a small institution like Randolph not only persevere, but truly thrive in today's higher-education climate is incredibly encouraging. I'm impressed by the college's commitment to providing a high-quality student-athlete experience, and I'm excited about the opportunity to contribute to that mission."
Lengle is a National Athletic Trainer Association/BOC Certified Athletic Trainer and certified in CPR/AED/First Aid. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Athletic Trainers Society of New Jersey, and American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
"There's a lot to look forward to," said Lengle. "I'm excited to build relationships with the administration, faculty, and coaches, and to get to know the current athletic training staff as we work toward becoming a cohesive team focused on elevating student-athlete healthcare. Most of all, I'm eager to connect with the student-athletes themselves and support them in competing safely and successfully."
