SALEM, Va. – The Randolph College men's and women's track and field teams commenced its 2018-19 indoor season on Friday in the first day of the Bast-Cregger Invitational hosted by Roanoke College.
The WildCats primarily competed in the field events. In the high jump, Philomen Afrifa-Boakye (Accra, Ghana/Mfanisipim) placed fourth with a mark of 1.93m while Devin Davis (Galax, Va./Galax) finished 19th in the field with a height of 1.68m. Karim Frazier (Norfolk, Va./Lake Taylor) earned a third place finish in the pole vault with a height of 3.85m to round out the men's field.
On the women's side, Taja Hunley (Dalzell, S.C./Thomas Sumter Academy) had the best mark in the high jump for Randolph as the first-year posted a mark of 1.48m to tie for ninth-place while teammate Meghan Chaffins (Temperanceville, Va./Holly Grove Christian) tied for 12th in the event with a height of 1.43m.
The WildCats are back tomorrow for the second day of the invitational.
