BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Randolph College women's track and field team has concluded its first day of the 2018 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships, hosted by Bridgewater College.
In the throwing events, Kayla Wilhelm (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) posted the top mark for Randolph in the hammer throw with a toss of 35.90m, which was good enough for sixth overall. Teammate Teliya Stevenson (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) followed with a mark of 31.74m before earning a shot put toss of 10.48m to finish eighth in the field.
Meghan Chaffins (Temperanceville, Va./Holly Grove Christian) represented the WildCats in the jumping events as the first-year earned a height of 1.38m in the high jump before earning a mark of 4.47m in the long jump.
Most of the running events were preliminary races, with several Randolph athletes qualifying for the final rounds. Marisa Quarti (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) earned a spot in the final race of the 100 meter hurdles, posting a qualifying time of 16.26 seconds while Jordan Sheets (Lewisville, N.C./Ronald W. Reagan) just managed to grab a spot in the final of the 400 meter run, crossing the finish line in 1:01.67.
The WildCats are back tomorrow for the second and final day of the 2018 ODAC Championships, with a start time set for 10 a.m.
