Track and Field to Compete at ODACs This Weekend
LYNCHBURG, VA – After five-straight weeks of preparation, the Randolph College outdoor track and field teams will be able put it all together for the biggest meet of the season. The WildCats will compete on Friday and Saturday at Washington and Lee University, the host of this year's Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Outdoor Championships.
This will be the second time the 'Cats have traveled to W&L this year, and the first meet there was a great success. Anthony Quinn got things going by running a sub-15 second 110-meter hurdles race. He won that event. Philemon Afrifa-Boakye set several bests, while the relay teams also had great days. Trevanna Berryman added a record in the discus, crushing the previous long. Michaela Saunders started her excellent spring at that meet, breaking the 800-meter record for the first time on the year.
Those results and the confidence the team has will look to carry over. At this meet the men will have nine different individuals competing, while the women will have 10. However, many of the athletes have qualified in multiple events and will look to earn points in those events.
On Friday, the preliminary rounds for most of the track events will take place and then some field events will be completed. Then on Saturday, the finals will be hosted in the sprints, while the mid-distance single rounds will be hosted. In addition, the relays and several other field events will take place.
The Generals will provide live video and live stats for the meet. The respective links are https://portal.stretchinternet.com/wandl/ and http://results.tfmeetpro.com/Blue_Ridge_Timing__wwwblueridgetimingcom/Old_Dominion_Athletic_Conference_Championships/.
