LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Randolph College women's tennis team adds its sixth-straight win to its schedule as the WildCats defeated visiting Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) foe Guilford College, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Randolph Tennis Courts.
Keyu Jin (Kunming, China/No. 8 Middle School) and Ashley Schmitz (Keswick, Va./Homeschool) took down their opponents in the No. 1 spot, 8-1 while Jordon Kirkpatrick (Luts, Fla./Sunlake) and Savana Mata (Santa Barbara, Calif./San Marcos) managed to take the No. 2 match, 8-4. The WildCats completed the sweep as Ranita Opoku-Sarfo (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) and Hayley Ashford (Providence Forge, Va./New Kent) teamed up in the No. 3 spot for an 8-0 victory.
In singles action, Jin swept her opponent in the No. 1 match, 6-0, 6-0 while Schmitz also achieved a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 2 spot. Mata earned a 6—2, 6-0 win at No. 3 while Sara Mueller (Falls Church, Va./George Mason) won at No. 4, 6-1, 6-0. Opoku-Sarfo won her match at No. 5 with a score of 6-1, 6-0 while Kristyn Underwood (Afton, Va./Nelson County) solidified her victory at No. 6 with a score of 6-0, 6-0.
The WildCats improve to 8-5, 6-1 ODAC and move on to host Roanoke College on Thursday, April 4 at 3 p.m. at the Randolph Tennis Courts.
