Women’s Tennis Closes Fall Season at Averett

DANVILLE, Va. – The Randolph College women's tennis team fell 5-4 to Averett University on Sunday afternoon as the WildCats concluded its fall season. 

The duo of Ranita Opoku-Sarfo (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) and Kristyn Underwood (Afton, Va./Nelson County) won the lone doubles match for Randolph, defeating their opponent 8-7. 

The WildCats won three out of six singles matches, with Lauren Appel (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) taking down her opponent in the No. 3 spot, 6-1, 5-7, 6-4, while Sarah Mueller (Falls Church, Va./George Mason) won her match, 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 5 match. Jordon Kirkpatrick (Lutz, Fla./Sunlake) had the third singles match win as she took the No. 6 spot with a score of 6-3, 6-3.

Randolph will return for its spring season on Tuesday, Feb. 19 when it travels to conference rival Washington & Lee University.
