VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Randolph College women's tennis team closed out its season in the semifinal round the 2018 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women's Tennis Tournament on Saturday morning as the WildCats fell to 15th-ranked Washington and Lee University, 5-0, at the Everett Tennis Center on the campus of Virginia Wesleyan University.
The top-seed Generals swept all three doubles matches with 8-0 scores. The tandem of Keyu Jin (Kunming, China) and Aubrey Hawn (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) fell at No. 1 doubles while the pairing of Ashley Schmitz (Keswick, Va./Homeschool) and Sarah Mueller (Falls Church, Va./George Mason) fell at No. 2. The duo of Ranita Opoku-Sarfo (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) and Kristyn Underwood (Afton, Va./Nelson County) would fall in the No. 3 spot for Randolph.
Washington and Lee clinched the win in singles action as Mueller and Opoku-Sarfo dropped the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively, both falling to their opponents with scores of 6-0, 6-0.
Randolph concludes the 2017-18 season with an 11-6 overall record and a 7-4 ODAC record.
