Tennis to Finish Regular Season this Week
LYNCHBURG, VA – After playing for the last time at home this past week, the Randolph College tennis teams will finish up the regular season this week. The men's team will play twice, while the women will play once in preparation for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tournament.
The Randolph (women: 11-3, 8-2 ODAC/men: 8-5, 4-4) men's team will begin their week at Hampden-Sydney College (7-5, 2-3) on Wednesday. The 3 p.m. match will be very key for ODAC tournament seedings. The WildCats currently sit in the fifth-spot, while the Tigers are in the sixth. The 'Cats have played three more matches and have already clinched a tournament spot. H-SC have not yet clinched a berth, but will have several opportunities to do. However, the team that gets the win will be able to move further up the standings.
Randolph will end the season on Saturday at Shenandoah University (w: 3-9, 1-7/m: 1-10, 0-7). The 1 p.m. contest will have no bearing on postseason play for the Hornets, as both teams have already been eliminated. But as it will be the last tune-up for the WildCats, both the women and men will be looking to put together a complete win. The Randolph women's team will set a new ODAC record for wins and tie the program record for wins if victorious. It will also see them seal the three-seed, which will be the highest in program history. The men will look to gain momentum heading into the tournament, which will start a week and a half later.
