Ferrum Gets Past Women’s Soccer 2-1

FERRUM, Va.- The Randolph women's soccer team looked to get its first conference win of the season as they travelled to Ferrum to take on the Panthers. The hosts scored twice in the second half with the game-winning goal coming with just under five minutes to play as Ferrum won by the score of 2-1.

Randolph sees its overall record even at 5-5 and its ODAC record fall to 0-5. Ferrum improves to 7-1-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

The Panthers got off a pair of wide shots in the first 12 minutes of play. The WildCats responded with a shot on goal turned away by Ferrum goalkeeper Taylor Dodson. WildCat keeper Zoe Waring (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) had a save of her own of a Panther shot. Randolph was able to go ahead at 28:12 as Sam Hablas (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) found Sara Bane (Blue Ridge, Va./Lord Botetourt) for the goal.

Waring stood tall in the net for the 'Cats as she stymied the Panthers with five saves. The WildCats were able to take their 1-0 lead into halftime.

Waring continued her strong play into the second half to keep the WildCat lead intact. Ferrum would finally get one in at 64:08 to tie the contest at 1-1.

The Randolph offense was held in check as it could not get a shot for the remainder of the period. The Panthers scored the game winner at 85:02.

Waring finished with 13 saves in goal for her fourth double-digit save performance of the season. Dodson had three stops for the Panthers.

For Bane, she now has six goals on the season to lead the WildCats. Along with her four assists, her 16 points ranks her tied for seventh in the ODAC.

Ferrum led in shots 26-4. All four of Randolph's attempts came on goal. The Panthers had three corner kicks with none for the 'Cats.

The WildCats host their first game in over two weeks on Saturday as they welcome Bridgewater to WildCat Stadium. Game time will be at 1:00 p.m.
