SALEM, Va.- Zoe Waring (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) tied her career-high with 17 saves in net for the Randolph women's soccer team but host Roanoke scored with just over a minute remaining in regulation to take a 1-0 win on Saturday. The WildCats fall to 5-4 overall and 0-4 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Maroons move to 2-5-3 and 1-2-1 in the ODAC.
The Maroons registered 36 total shots with 20 on goal but it was Waring's stellar play that kept the hosts off of the scoreboard for the majority of the game. Waring did get some help from her defense as the 'Cats had two team saves.
Randolph was held to just one shot in the second half and four overall on the afternoon. Sara Bane (Blue Ridge, Va./Lord Botetourt) had two of the WildCats' shots with Marisa Santacroce (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) picking up the other two.
It is Waring's third double-digit save performance of the season. She is fourth in the ODAC in that category.
The WildCats' four-game road trip concludes on Wednesday as they travel to Ferrum to play the Panthers. Game time will be at 7:00 p.m.
