LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph women's lacrosse team hosted its final game of the season on Wednesday night at WildCat Stadium. Visiting Randolph-Macon scored 14 goals in the first half on its way to a 19-2 victory.
The WildCats held off the Yellowjackets in the early stages of the first half. Randolph goalkeeper Chrissy Shackleford (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) turned away two RMC shots. Randolph-Macon finally broke through at 27:20 on a goal by Hannah Jones.
Jones added a free-position goal 38 seconds later to give the visitors a 2-0 advantage. Randolph-Macon would go on to lead 7-0 after just over eight minutes of game time. The WildCats got on the board as Nicole Dorton (Alexandria, Va./J.E.B. Stuart) assisted Sarah Perry (Rocky Mount, Va./Franklin County) at 21:03. Hannah Bradley (Wye Mills, Md./Saints Peter and Paul) made good on her free position attempt with 12:26 remaining in the period to bring the score to 12-2.
The WildCats kept the Yellowjackets at bay for over nine minutes of game time in the second half. Shackleford had two saves while the Jackets committed three turnovers during that span of time. RMC scored a free position goal at 20:56 but would not score a regular goal until just under 15 minutes remained in the contest.
Perry had four total shots with three coming on frame. She also won four draw controls. All three of Bradley's shots came on goal. She also won four draw controls. Shackleford finished with 14 saves.
Randolph wraps up the 2018 season this Sunday in Bridgewater. Game time will be at 1:00 p.m.
