Women’s Lax Drops ODAC Contest to Virginia Wesleyan

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.- The Randolph women's lacrosse team traveled across the state to play Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday evening. The Marlins won by the score of 25-4.

Virginia Wesleyan had a 2-0 lead on the WildCats early in the first half of play. Randolph was granted a free position attempt and Sarah Perry (Rocky Mount, Va./Franklin County) was good on it as the 'Cats trailed 2-1 with 24:13 remaining in the first frame.

The Marlins scored 13 straight times to lead 15-1 at halftime. The WildCat scored three goal in the second half on a Teagan Stanley (Lusby, Md,/Homeschool) solo shot, another Perry free position goal, and a Rachel Buxton (Sterling, Va.) free position score.

Perry scored twice to give her a team-high 20 goals so far on the season. She also won six draw controls. Buxton had a goal, two groundballs, and a caused turnover. Chrissy Shackleford (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) had nine saves in goal.

Randolph will play Sweet Briar this Saturday. Game time is at 1:00 p.m.
