Wittenberg Uses Late Surge to Blow Past Women's Lacrosse

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- After a hotly-contested start to today's contest, Wittenberg went on a run, putting away the host WildCats, 18-7.

The two teams went the first 11:58 of today's game without scoring as junior Samantha Fagone (Bayshore, N.Y./Bayshore) stopped the first five shots she faced.

Randolph finally got on the scoreboard as junior Taylor Klevenz (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill) scored the first three Randolph (3-2) goals, putting the WildCats up 1-0 and scoring two straight later to level the score at 3-3.

All three of her markers were off of free position shots.

Wittenberg (2-0) rallied to score 14 of the next 15 goals however, with Randolph only receiving Klevenz's fourth over a span of 30:15.

With 12:09 remaining, senior Melanie Eisele (Kennett Square, Pa./Sanford School), who scored six goals in the team's last game, struck for Randolph.

Klevenz scored her fifth a few minutes later to earn her third five-goal game this season.

With 34 seconds remaining, Klevenz fed Eisele in transition for the game's final goal.

With the tally, Klevenz, the ODAC's leader in assists, moved into the top spot for point scorers in the conference as well.

Randolph returns to its ODAC slate on Wednesday against Hollins.
