Yanessa Cabrera looks for an open teammate

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Randolph College women's basketball team dropped an 80-58 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) decision to host Bridgewater College on Saturday afternoon in Nininger Hall.

Despite Randolph landing on the scoreboard first, the Eagles immediately caught up and took control of the lead to hold a 19-12 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Bridgewater extended its margin further in the second period, outscoring the WildCats, 24-14 for a comfortable 46-23 lead at halftime.

The third quarter saw the Eagles outscore the WildCats, 24-14, but as the fourth period was underway Randolph began its march up the leaderboard, slowly chipping away at Bridgewater's lead to eventually trim the deficit to 71-55. However, the Eagles would ultimately seal the final 80-58 score as time expired on the clock.

Kalyn Banks (Clinton, Md./From the Heart Christian School) posted 12 points, shooting 5-of-10 from the floor, and pulled down 13 rebounds to lead the WildCats while Yanessa Cabrera (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) concluded the game with 10 points and a team-high six rebounds. Dominique Jackson (Greensboro, N.C./Ben L. Smith) posted nine points to go along with three steals while Sara Streett (Mount Jackson, Va./Stonewall Jackson) recorded eight points off the bench.

The WildCats drop to 3-5, 1-1 ODAC and move on to face the University of Lynchburg on Wednesday, Dec. 5. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
