ASHLAND, Va.- On Sunday afternoon, the Randolph softball team played its final regular season doubleheader of the season against host Randolph-Macon. The results did not go the WildCats' way as the Yellow Jackets won both games by scores of 8-0 in six innings and 10-1 in five innings.

The WildCats were held to one hit in the first game. Alyssa Swords (Disputanta, Va./Prince George) led off the fourth inning with a single through the left side.

In the second game, the Jackets led 4-0 after completion of the second inning. In the 'Cats third inning, Rachel Lee (Clifton, Va./Centreville) was hit by a pitch to get on base. Sarah Reed's (Luray, Va./Luray) sacrifice bunt moved Lee to second base. Delaney Nuckols (Rockville, Va./Patrick Henry) then singled to left field to score Lee. Nuckols moved into scoring position by stealing second and went to third on a Swords sac bunt but was stranded when Madison Brown (Forest, Va./Jefferson Forest) flied out to center.

R-MC pulled away from the WildCats with a five-run third inning.

In her final game in a Randolph uniform, Lindsey Chaney (Charlottesville, Va./Covenant School) surrendered nine earned runs on 10 hits and walked three. She also struck out three batters. When she got Yellow Jacket batter Shelby Hill out on a called strike in the bottom of the first inning, she moved past Logan Carter for the most strikeouts looking in WildCat history. Earlier this season, she became the all-time overall strikeout leader in program history.

Nuckols was 1-for-2 with a run batted in and stolen base. Swords finished 1-for-1.

Not only was it the final game for Chaney but also for fellow seniors Lee, Reed, Taylor Craft (Altavista, Va./Altavista) and Courtney Lucado (Buchanan, Va./James River).

Randolph ends its season with a final record of 15-22-1.
