NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The Randolph softball team began its Spring Break trip on Monday as it played a pair of games. The WildCats took out Cedar Crest 8-0 in five innings in the first game and won 6-5 over Medaille in nine innings. The wind even the 'Cats record at 5-5.

The WildCats jumped on the Falcons in the first inning. Kate Hodgkiss (Suffolk, Va./Nansemond River) was hit by a pitch to lead off. Taylor Craft (Alatavista, Va./Altavista) followed with a single up the middle. Courtney Lucado (Buchanan, Va./James River) grounded out to move runners to second and third. With the bases loaded, Brittany Campbell (Manassas, Va./Stonewall Jackson) walked to score a run. Jordyn Knapp's (Woodbridge, Va./C.D. Hylton) groundout scored Morris and Briana Harbison (Dumfries, Va./Potomac) reached on an error to score Montgomery as the WildCats went up 4-0.

In the second game of the day against the Mavericks, the 'Cats scored once in the first and second innings to go up 2-0. Starting pitcher Abbi Pannill (Prince George, Va./Prince George) ran into trouble in the third as she allowed three runs to score as Medaille took a 3-2 lead. Randolph wrestled the lead back as a Craft RBI single and a Harbison RBI doubled pitted the WildCats to a 4-3 advantage.

Medaille tied the game in fourth. Randolph got back up by one in the sixth only to see the Mavericks tie again in the seventh. The game went to extra innings. In the bottom of the ninth, international tiebreaking rules allowed Randolph to put a runner on second. Rachel Lee (Clifton, Va./Centreville) pinch ran for Alexis Steljes (Charlottesville, Va./Covenant School). Montgomery struck looking to lead off. With pinch hitter Knapp at the plate, Lee then stole third. Knapp gave the WildCats the walk-off win as she laid down a bunt through the Medaille defense that allowed Lee to score.

Pannill went seven innings giving up nine hits, four runs (three earned), and four walks. She struck out seven batters. Camber Thornhill (Pearisburg, Va./Giles) picked up the win in two innings of relief. She allowed just one run on two hits and one walk.
