Each week, Randolph Athletics showcases a question and answer with the WildCat of the Week. This week it is a junior from the equestrian team Kirby Tidmore.
At Bridgewater Saturday, Tidmore won the Open Flat and Open Fences and was the High Point Rider of the Day to lead Randolph to its highest point total of the year. She also qualified for Regionals in the Open Flat. Tidmore has a total of six blue ribbon rides on the season to date.
How long have you been riding?
I have been riding for almost 14 years.
What has been your top moment for you in riding career at Randolph?
I think the top moment of my riding career here at Randolph would probably be winning ODACs last year for the first time in 13 years. The four of us on that team put in so much work to prepare and it really paid off.
What is your lasting memory as a member of the team?
One lasting memory for me would be the team's reaction when we won the regional championship last year. After learning the school was deciding to cut our program in the middle of our season it was really hard for all of us to push through it but we managed to be even more successful than we were the year before. It was a very emotional and rewarding moment.
What will you miss above all else?
I think I will miss Chris (Mitchell) more than anything else when the program closes at the end of the year. We mean it very seriously when we say our team is a family and Chris is like a second dad to all of us. None of us are going to know what to do without him next year.
