LYNCHBURG, Va.- The Randolph Equestrian team competed in its first Intercollegiate Horse Show Association competition on Saturday at the University of Virginia. The WildCats came out on top as victors with 38 total points and edged out the Cavaliers who had 35.
Randolph had three blue ribbon performance on the day. Charlotte Hudson (Hoquiam, Wa./Hoquaim) took first in the Walk Trot and in the process qualified for Regional Championships. Kirby Tidmore (Nashville, Tenn.) took home two blue ribbons with first place rides in the Open Flat and Open Fences. The win in Open Fences made her the High Point Rider of the Day.
Competing in her first IHSA show, Sidney Clark (St. Augustine, Fla./Smithson Valley) rode to a second place result in the Walk Trot Canter. Teammate Abby Carpenter (Danville, Va./George Washington) was also second in the event. Molly McLaughlin (Owings, Md./Northern) was second in Novice Fences and also qualified for the Regional Championships.
Amber Bowman (Boones Mill, Va./Franklin County) placed third in Intermediate Jumps. Michelle Smith (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) and Liz Bearisto (Bowie, Md./Bowie) were fourth and sixth, respectively, in Novice Flat. Taylor Price, who was also competing in her first IHSA show was fifth in Novice Fences while Smith was sixth.
Randolph hosts its Fall Festival next Saturday and Sunday at the Riding Center.
