WildCat Equestrian Clinches Regional Title at UVA Show

Caroline Houston placed first in Intermediate Fences

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- The Randolph equestrian team turned in a solid performance at its last IHSA show of the season on Saturday at the University of Virginia. The WildCats were second to the Cavaliers on the day but clinched the overall regional title for the second year in a row. Randolph secured the region with 311 total points accumulated throughout the season. UVA was second with 293 points.

Four Randolph riders turned in first place performances. They were Charlotte Hudson in the Walk Trot, Leia Stuart in Novice Flat, Molly McLaughlin (Owings, Md.) in Novice Fences, and Caroline Houston (Glastonbury, Conn.) in Intermediate Fences.

Kirby Tidmore (Nashville, Tenn.) came in third in Open Flat. She was also fifth in Open Fences. Carly Stirewalt placed fourth in Intermediate Flat. Abby Carpenter (Danville, Va.) was sixth in Walk Trot Canter.

Carpenter, Tidmore, Houston, and Raynah Roberts (Bristol, Va.) will compete in the Zone 4 Region 2 Championships tomorrow at UVA. Carpenter is in the Walk Trot, Tidmore in Novice Flat and Open Fences, Houston in Novice Flat and Fences, and Roberts in Walk Trot Canter.
