Hoke and Davis Set for Nationals
LYNCHBURG, VA – For the second time in four years, the Randolph College equestrian will send two riders to the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Horse Show. Morgan Hoke and Madeline Davis will represent the 'Cats on Thursday in the 50th edition of National Horse Show, which will be hosted by the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY.
The actual competition begins at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, but the WildCats will not be in the first two classes. Davis will be the first to get in the saddle, taking part in the Individual Novice Equitation Over Fences. Davis had an outstanding year, not only qualifying for the regional championships in Novice fences, but also excelling in Intermediate fences after she pointed out of the previous class. Then she won the Zone 4 Region 2 title in the event. She followed it with the Zone 4 title, to advance to this show.
The second to last event on Thursday is when Hoke will be in the ring. The Randolph College Female Athlete of the Year will compete in the Individual Open Equitation on the Flat, taking part in the highest class in the country. Hoke has had a tremendous final season, as she qualified for regionals for the second-straight year (last year was in Intermediate fences). Like Davis, Hoke won the Zone 4 Region 2 title in the Open flat and then went to St. Andrews University to compete against the best the zone has to offer. She won her class once again to secure the automatic bid.
It will be an intense atmosphere with the best riders in the nation taking part in these national championships.
The event is scheduled to be live streamed at http://eqsports.net/schedule.
