Men’s Cross Country Runs in James Madison Open Invitational

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Randolph College men's cross country team finished ninth out of nine complete teams at the James Madison Open Invitational on Saturday morning.

Brayden Epperly (Bedford, Va./Staunton River) clocked the fastest-time for the WildCats, finishing the eight-kilometer course in a time of 30:12 while teammate Alex Clem (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) followed behind with a time of 31:00. Kenny Kinton (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) and Mason Dye (Rosedale, Va./Honaker) finished consecutively for Randolph with Kinton crossing the line in 31:42 while Dye clocked in at 31:48.

Sam Mott (Smithfield, Va./Smithfield) was the next Randolph harrier to finish, crossing the line in 33:35, while Caleb Schmitzer (Wilson, N.C./Fike) and Cody Carpenter (Williamsburg, Va./Walsingham Academy) followed behind in 34:05 and 35:16, respectively.

Rounding out the Randolph field was Zurwan Purveyor (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) and Deandre Jackson (Lynchburg, Va./Heritage). Purveyor crossed the line in 36:16 while Jackson clocked in at 38:27.

The WildCats return to action on Friday, Sept. 14 when they compete at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational.
