LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Randolph College men's and women's cross country team celebrated Homecoming and Family Weekend by participating in the annual Virginia 4-Miler on Saturday morning, a race which ends on the steps of Main Hall on Randolph's own campus.
Alex Clem (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) and Jermayne Waller both raced well for the WildCats as both runners placed second and third, respectively, in their age division (males 20-24). Clem clocked in a 23:43, good enough for eighth overall, while Waller posted a time of 24:29 to clinch a 10th overall finish. Caleb Schmitzer earned 15th overall, third in his age division (males 15-19), with a time of 25:25. Cody Carpenter (26:26, 21st) and Kenny Kinton (27:05, 23rd) rounded out the men's team in the race.
On the women's side, Jordan Sheets (Lewisville, N.C./Ronald W. Reagan) led the way to lock down a time of 37:14 while Leo Galopin (Rye Brook, N.Y./Ethel Walker) followed in 48:01. Rounding out the Randolph harriers were Sophia Dill (Glencoe, N.C./Western Alamance) (50:18) and Jalil Penn (Baltimore, Md./Institute of Notre Dame) (50:54).
The WildCats will compete again next week when they travel to Greensboro, N.C. for the 34th Annual Greensboro XC Invitational.
