Men's Cross Country Finishes Third at ODAC Preview

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Randolph College men's cross country team opened its 2017 season at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Preview hosted by Virginia Wesleyan University on Friday evening. The WildCats placed third out of four teams.

Leading the way for Randolph was Alex Clem (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) who covered the eight-kilometer course in 29:21.69, earning a ninth-place overall finish.

Jermayne Waller was the second WildCat to cross the finishing line, posting a time of 30:11.20, good enough for 10th overall, while Caleb Schmitzer finished in 31:10.16 to place 13th.

Cody Carpenter and Kenny Kinton rounded out the Randolph harriers, clocking in at 32:45.89 and 34:17.03 respectively.

The Marlins topped the field in the team competition while Lewis Brooks of Hampden-Sydney College won the individual title.

The WildCats return to action on Friday, Sept. 15 when they compete in the Adidas XC Challenge in Cary, N.C.
