WildCats Run at Gettysburg in Final Tune-Up
GETTYSBURG, PA – The Randolph College cross country teams took part in the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday, racing against over 500 total runners. It was also important as it was the last time the team would compete before the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships. Once again, the men's team was paced by Alex Clem, with the women being led by Taylor Rama.
Clem continued his stellar season in the 8K, as he just barely missed out on a new top time. The sophomore stopped the clock in 27:56 for 68th overall. It was only 15 seconds behind his previous best, which he set two weeks ago. Tory Myrick was the next 'Cat to finish, coming in at 31:16. He used a final kick at the end to edge out a runner from Gettysburg. John Coffron was the final member of the team to finish, as he crossed the line in 34:29.9. Both Coffron and Myrick set new career bests in the 8K.
Rama and Sophia Dill were the two to run for the women, as the pair competed in a 6K. Rama set a season-best at the distance, which was just shy of her college best. She finished the race in 26:31.1, which had her beating over 150 runners.
Dill did achieve a new career best in the 6,000 meter race. She beat over 90 runners, as she stopped the clock in 28:41.8.
Randolph will take next weekend off before heading to the Buena Vista Links Course on October 29. It will be the second time the team will be there, with this one being the ODAC Championship race.
