Clem Leads the Way for WildCats at ODAC Preview

LEXINGTON, VA – The Randolph College men's cross country ran at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Preview Meet on Friday, which was held at the same location that will host the ODAC Championships later this fall.

Washington and Lee University hosted the meet, but it was marred by unseasonably hot weather.  However, Alex Clem led the team with his time of 32:43.2.  He defeated almost 50 competitors with his showing at the difficult Buena Vista Links Course.  The course, situated in the mountains, features rolling hills throughout.

Three other 'Cats competed on this hilly course.  Fresh off a stellar performance in his first collegiate race last week, Tory Myrick was the second WildCat to cross the finish line, stopping the clock in 40:02.1.  Andrew Harman finished shortly after, coming in at 41:56.7.  It was a good showing for both first-years in their first traditional collegiate races.  Michael Gambino was the last member of the team to finish the race.  He came in at 46:11.2

W&L won the team competition at the meet, with Mac Strehler winning the individual title.

Randolph will hit the road next weekend as well.  The WildCats travel to Salem, VA next Saturday to compete in the Maroon Invitational.  Roanoke College will host the meet scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
