WildCats Start Well at Hokum Karem

LYNCHBURG, VA – On Friday, the Randolph College men's cross country team hosted the opening meet of the season at Humankind.  However, this was no ordinary race, as teams worked in pairs to achieve times, with the pairs being scored afterwards.

With the WildCats sending five runners to the race, the team was unable to factor into the final team standings, and it also featured one leg with two runners.  That leg was the first of the top pair for the 'Cats.  Tory Myrick and John Coffron combined, with Myrick showing particular well.  The second leg of the 10-mile relay was run by Alex Clem.  Clem could not start until both runners finished before him, but the three did very well, ending with a time of 1:06:56.4.

The second pair to run for Randolph featured Drew Harman (leg one) and Michael Gambino (leg two).  Harman, running in his first collegiate race, ran well and Gambino picked up where he left off from last year.  The two finished with a time of 1:15:25.1.

Lynchburg College won the event, with its three-highest pairs finishing in the top-five.

Randolph will head to a more traditional race next Friday.  Washington and Lee University will host the ODAC Preview Meet, with the 8K race beginning at 6 p.m.
