LYNCHBURG, Va. – After a stellar showing at the 2019 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Indoor Championships, senior DJ Petty (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) secured his place in the 60 meter hurdles race and the 60 meter dash at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Petty's performance in the 60 meter hurdles at the conference meet earned him a first-place finish with a time of 8.23 seconds that set not only a school record but a new meet record as well. Petty will also compete in the 60 meter dash after turning in a time of 6.92 seconds at the ODAC meet, which earned him second-place overall.
Petty becomes the first Randolph student-athlete to qualify for the indoor national meet and compete in multiple events.
The NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships will take place on Friday-Saturday, March 8-9 at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston, Mass. with The University of Massachusetts, Boston serving as host.
