FOREST, Va. – Senior DJ Petty (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week for his performances at the Bast-Cregger Invitational hosted by Roanoke College this past weekend.
Petty earned a top finish in the 60 meter hurdles, winning the event in a time of 8.44 seconds before claiming a second place finish in the 60 meter dash, crossing the line in 6.98 seconds. Petty also ran a leg on the 4x200 meter relay team that set a new school standard of 1:36.76 and placed third in the event.
To secure his place in the finals of the 60 meter dash, Petty clocked a preliminary time of 6.92 seconds which is currently the third fastest-time in the nation.
Petty and the WildCats will return to action after winter break where they will compete from Friday-Saturday, Jan. 18-19 at the VMI Keydet Invitational.
