Track and Field to Host this Saturday
LYNCHBURG, VA – For the second-straight year, the Randolph College outdoor track and field teams will host a home meet. The second-annual WildCat Invitational will take place on Saturday, and will feature a handful of local opponents.
Last year, the 'Cats used this meet to propel themselves to a successful showing at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Outdoor Championships. Once again, ODACs will take place next week, giving the athletes an excellent opportunity to improve on their times and rankings. Additionally, three key competitors from the conference will be coming to the meet: Washington and Lee University, Lynchburg College, and Roanoke College. It should provide for great competition at the meet.
The meet is also important as this will serve as the track and field teams' Lace Up 4 Cancer competition. This year, the Randolph Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) partnered with Go 4 The Goal in order to help raise awareness and funds for families battling pediatric cancer. All of the Randolph athletes will be wearing yellow shoelaces and the majority of the funds spent on the purchase of the shoelaces go directly to families in need.
