EMORY, Va. – The Randolph College men's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to host and Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) foe Emory & Henry College on Saturday afternoon.
Randolph fought hard in doubles play with the tandem of Brandon Braud (Moseley, Va./Cosby) and Karson Healy (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) edging out their opponents, 8-6, to grab the only win for the WildCats.
Braud went on to win the only singles match for Randolph, defeating his counterpart, 6-3, 6-0, at the No. 3 spot. The WildCats did not go down without a fight in singles play as Alex Kulvivat (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) dropped a tough 6-1, 7-5 decision at No. 1 while Healy fell, 6-4, 7-5 in a hard fought No. 2 match. Andrew Webb was defeated, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4 while Jose Merhej (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision in the No. 5 spot. The Wasps clinched the win as John Coffron (Front Royal, Va./Warren County) fell at No. 6 with a score of 6-0, 6-2.
The WildCats fall to 0-11, 0-5 ODAC and are back in action on Saturday, March 30 when they host Guilford College at 1 p.m.
