Men’s Tennis Falls at Ferrum, 5-4

FERRUM, Va. – The Randolph College men's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision to Ferrum College on Sunday afternoon. 

The tandem of Brandon Braud (Mosely, Va./Cosby) and Karson Healy (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) won the lone doubles match for Randolph, defeating Riley Kern and Houston Murphy in No. 1 doubles. 

In singles play, Alex Kulvivat (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) beat Kern, 6-1, 6-2, in the No. 1 spot while Healy defeated Marshall Ownby in No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-2. Braud clinched the final win for Randolph in the No. 3 match where he took down David Bishop, 6-1, 6-2. 

Jose Merhej (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) fought a hard battle at No. 4 singles but ultimately fell to Murphy, 6-4, 6-1. Andrew Webb dropped a 6-3, 6-0 decision to Patrick Marsh in the No. 5 spot while John Coffron (Front Royal, Va./Warren County) fell, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 6 match to Jacob Glass. 

The WildCats move to 0-3 on the season and are back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 26 when they travel to Washington and Lee University for a 2 p.m. match up.
