WildCats Fall in Shortened Match

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Randolph College men's tennis team hosted Bridgewater College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match.  BC was able to win the weather-shortened match, 6-0.

Doubles featured three close matches, with the WildCats winning several games in each.  Bradley Strober and Doug Corbett won three games, but fell to their counterparts.  JT von Seggern and Kyle Unruh took four against the Eagles, but could not pull out the victory.  Trevor Johnson and Tuan Tran partnered at number three, and played tough, but dropped the match.

Singles came up next with the match moving along smoothly.  However, towards the end, inclement weather moved in and play was halted for lightning.  It was moved to the Crosswhite Athletic Club, where three matches were finished.  Strober and Joe Kaneda completed their matches at one and six.  Both played tough but fell.  Tran finished his as well at number five.  He took four games over the two sets, but could not pull out a victory.  In one of the unfinished matches, von Seggern was tied 6-6 in the first set, which would have set up a thrilling end to the match.

Randolph (4-3 overall, 0-2 ODAC) will be at home in its next match, but it will not happen until next week.  The WildCats host Roanoke College (1-4) on Friday at 3 p.m.
