WildCats Compete at Rain Affected ITA Regionals

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The Randolph College men's tennis team competed at the ITA Southeast Regionals on Friday and Saturday, which was hosted by the University of Mary Washington.  With the inclement weather in the area on Friday and Saturday, matches were affected throughout.

Trevor Johnson and Bradley Strober started things off for the WildCats, as both competed in the Championship Singles on Friday evening.  After making the long trek north, both were given tough first round tasks.  Despite playing well, neither could make it to the second round.

On Saturday, all of the WildCats were expected to play in singles and doubles action.  However, with the rain, only doubles and select matches from Championship Singles were played on Saturday.

Johnson came back Saturday morning for Championship Doubles with JT von Seggern.  The pair played a tough team from Ursinus and played well, but fell after taking three sets.

Strober teamed with usual partner Doug Corbett in the B1 Doubles.  The two played tough against a pair from Washington College, but eventually fell.  Tuan Tran and Joe Kaneda were the tandem in the B3 Doubles.  It was another closely fought match, but the WildCats fell to the team from St. Mary's (Md.) College.

All of the members of the team will be back in action on Sunday.  Consolations in the doubles will be played along with singles in the B Brackets.
