Men’s Soccer Takes on Washington and Lee in ODAC Semis

LYNCHBURG, Va.- For the first time since 2015, the Randolph men's soccer team finds itself in the semifinals of the ODAC Tournament. The WildCats face Washington and Lee at Lynchburg's Shellenberger Field. Game time on Saturday will be at 4:00 p.m.

How they Got Here: In the quarterfinals last Saturday in Roanoke, Adam Watson scored twice for Randolph as it knocked off the Maroons 2-1. Erick Cortez-Martinez stopped four shots in goal. The Generals took down Bridgewater 2-0 in Lexington. 

The Series: The Generals hold a 7-2-3 lead in the series and have won the last four games. Randolph's last win over W&L was in the 2013 ODAC semifinals at WildCat Stadium 2-0.

Last Time: The two teams previously met almost a month ago at WildCat Stadium. Each squad had 14 total shots and eight shots on goal but it was the Generals that came away with the victory as Harry Pinkerton scored at 84:41 for the 1-0 win. Erick Cortez-Martinez had six saves for the 'Cats.

The WildCats: Watson ended his personal seven-match scoreless streak with his two goals against Roanoke. He now leads the team and the ODAC with nine goals on the season. Frankie DiOrio is behind him with seven scores. Evan Blow has tallied five helpers in his first year with the 'Cats.

The Generals: Scoring is distributed among four players with four goals each. Three players have three tallies. Dylan Ritch and Andrew Kim both have five assists. Goalkeeper Gillen Beck has started all 17 games in goal. He sports a 0.73 GAA with 53 saves, an .815 save percentage, and six shutouts. His save percentage ranks third in the ODAC.

Admission for the game is $10 for Adults and $5 for children age five to high school. Children under five and college students with an ID are free.
